Otis & the Rhythm is currently working on the 2017 Schedule. As of this posting, O&R is booked at The Aztec Restaurant and The Bonnie Dallas Senior Center throughout the year (see schedule).

There will be more venues added to the schedule as bookings are made. Check the schedule regularly for more performance dates.

One of the changes you will see in the show is the recent addition of a nice Fender CD 60-CE acoustic/electric guitar, which was acquired at Main Street Music in Aztec, New Mexico last summer. While it is still in the "break in" phase, it is filling the bill nicely as Otis' primary acoustic guitar. The 60-CE is black and features nice inlaid abalone rings around the soundhole. You will  see it's photo prominently used throughout this website as a design element.

The unplugged tone is not bad for a low-end cutaway, but the sound of it's built-in electronics is really nice!

It sounds great plugged directly into the soundboard, or miked in the studio. You can here it in the recently recorded Christmas songs that are on the Music Page.

Another fresh addition to the show is the hand made lap steel Peter Brown designed and built in 1994.

It was featured in the show for a few years but was  in the shop for some much needed TLC and a redesign of the string height and rewiring of the circuitry to provide for  better-grounded, quieter operation.

In addition to the new axe and revamped lap steel, the show will sound better in general thanks to Otis' diligent search for better backing tracks, many of which have been recently procured. The new improved rhythm tracks feature high definition audio, precision vocals and instrumentation such as steel guitar, fiddle, and more harmonies.

Hopefully you can catch Otis & the Rhythm's show at a popular venue near you and hear for yourself the vast improvement over the old, mechanical-sounding midi files that were used in years past.

Rhythm Machine Upgraded

(Jan 24, 2017) -   Otis & the Rhythm recently acquired a Samsung Tab e Lite, which was immediately put into commission as "the rhythm" machine.

"It works great for playing my rhythm tracks", Otis said, during a recent interview.

"I can see the songs better, the user interface is great. This is a monumental advancement for the show", he continued.

"And thanks to the generous support of the great folks in Farmington and Aztec (and surrounding area) who come out and support local musicians, including Otis & the Rhythm, I'll be using this tablet on stage now instead of my cel phone."
