BIOGRAPHY
OTIS & THE RHYTHM was conceived in 2001, when Peter Brown was living in Pismo Beach, California and workina at Xyber Software. The CEO, Charles Lynch had fashioned an automated Rock and Roll Show called MicroBand that featured midi-based rhythm tracks and a custom light show syncopated to his songs. Charles provided the essential human interface, playing guitars and singing classic rock songs by the likes of Roy Orbison and Tom Petty.
While the MicroBand left much to be desired, it did provide some of the inspiration Brown needed to motivate him to create Otis & Rhythm, however, Brown would go on to create a better show using customized recorded audio of actual musicians and saved to mp3 format, providing a much more realistic-sounding music experience than the mechanical-sounding midi-formatted rhythms of yesteryear.
A couple years prior to moving to California Brown had heard other one-man shows that used rhythm tracks such as Donny Johnson out of Cortez, Colorado and knew he could do it too.
Since 2003, Peter Brown has been regularly providing outstanding music at clubs, bars, restaurants, dances, Christmas parties, and even golf tournaments (fund-raisers) as Otis & the rhythm.
Today, there seems to be a trend in one-man shows using rhythm tracks.
